This is a joke, right? Please? I’d write some scathing joke about Jan’s children, sweating it out in freaking BENDIGO, but …sigh.
The 1 Million Air-Conditioner Pledge Leave your air-conditioner on FULL TIME for 6 months and beat the carbon tax! Cory Bernardi started it, now we’re taking it a step further. What it is it? It’s a simple pledge by ordinary Australians to leave their air-conditioners on non-stop for 6 months in protest against the government’s destructive carbon tax. Already we have had an overwhelming response to this call for organised civil disobedience across the nation. Read the inspiring stories below, and then sign the pledge yourself!
Jan from Bendigo, Victoria writes:
Air-conditioners are not a choice or a luxury, they are a way of life. My children struggle when they have to be out of air-conditioning for more than a few minutes, and my heart goes out to them. I don’t want to see a future where they can’t have what they are used to. That’s why I took the 1 Million Air-Conditioner Pledge. We have 6 units in our house and are planning to buy another one. That leaves 999,993 more to go. Over to you Australia!Greg from Burnie, Tasmania writes:
When I first heard of the 1 Million Air-Conditioner pledge, I thought it was crazy. I live in a cold part of the country and wondered whether I could do it. But then the local hardware store had a clearance sale on heaters, and I just bought an extra three and the temperature has been ok even with my air conditioners on the coldest cycle night and day.
